Membership

The Water Environment Association of South Carolina is a non-profit water related organization with more than 2,600 members dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of our most precious natural resource ... WATER.

Founded in 1927, WEASC has grown to meet the challenges of our ever-changing environment. WEASC is one of the early members of the Water Environment Federation (WEF), an International federation of member associations with 45,000 members worldwide.

As a member of WEF, WEASC enjoys the benefits of all the resources and relationships of an international organization. WEASC is divided into ten districts, each having its own governing structure. These districts allow members in all areas of the state further involvement with the affairs of their particular region, and also an opportunity to participate in our Association without extensive travel. This also offers members the ability to work closely with others in our profession, offer peer support, discuss problems and arrive at appropriate solutions.

Professional Development...

One of the primary missions of WEASC is to educate our membership and all those interested in protecting our water resources. Professional development is becoming increasingly important with licensing requirements concerning career enhancement. Easy and affordable access to the continuing education contact hours required for your SC license exists across the state for professional development. Membership gains you access to nationally produced training materials as well.

Specialty Workshops and Seminars

Held at various times and at different locations throughout the state, these workshops and seminars focus on topics that are of current concern to our membership. WEASC also works with other related associations such as the South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association in providing these seminars and workshops. Attendance at one seminar or workshop during the year more than pays for your annual dues.

Annual Conference

Each year WEASC and the South Carolina Section of the American Water Works Association jointly host the South Carolina Environmental Conference held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This conference blends traditional educational presentations with exhibitions of equipment and services, current regulatory requirements, presentations of annual awards to leaders of our industry, as well as social events. The Conference is an excellent opportunity for members to network with each other and with key industry individuals from throughout the state.

Operations Challenge Competition

Each year, Operations Challenge teams from various communities compete in the areas of laboratory skills, safety, operational problems, collection systems and maintenance. Winners from each division can then compete in the national competition held at the annual WEF conference.
